1. Own hotel room, or room in a shared house/hostel. Ya girl is too much of an introvert to be anywhere near people at the end of the day. Even at home. Don't come near me after like 8pm.
3. We love our little Catholic-owned coffee roastery (Zelie Beans Coffee) and Joseph's decaf has been my go-to after the girls go to bed!
5. Surprisingly, savory! We've got a place here in town that does a mean feta and caramelized onion crepe with a lil pesto sauce... mmmmmmmm...
My own hotel room. Being a tourist in these places, I need space to decompress.
I've spent a little time in Granada, Spain and the Spanish were wonderful hosts. I felt at home there.
Absolutely have had coffee that tempered my soul although I became great friends with the owner of a coffee shop while in college so it was all about "who you know."
Favorite tapas had to be the fish with the side of "soured cabbage." So fish and sauerkraut. Being in Granada, the fish were caught in the Mediterranean and served to us the same day. Or so they told us..
I can go either way for crepes although I would probably lean toward a sweet preference.
Indeed. I LOVE coffee from Burundi. It was not in stock as often as the Ethiopian, which I also enjoyed. But I also found Guatemalan coffee lovely as well. But again, none of these compared to the Burundi really.
I gravitate towards Brazil, Guatemala, and Honduras for daily drinkers. If I want something more exotic I go for a Yirgacheffe or something like a honey processed light roast.
I do not recall ever having anything honey processed nor have I heard of this. But I'm highly intrigued and I do not like to live in ignorance. Looks like I have good things ahead of me. Thanks for that!
"Mind the gap" - I had no idea this phrase was famous! Seems commonplace to me, and we also get it in a slightly longer form on overground trains around the country. Basically because nourished infrastructure is so rubbish the trains don't match the stations they pull into. There are even trains where if you sit in the wrong carriage, you won't be able to get off at certain stations because the platform is too short... Nice piece, 😊
I have a cousin that lived in the UK for like a year so he was always talking about the "Mind the gap" voice in the PA system and had a t-shirt with the tube stop sign that had that legend instead of the name of an actual stop. It might have been a "just my family" affair. Still, fun to ride the tube, the metro in Paris and compare it to NYC subway. There's certain smell in all of them.
That thing about the trains sounds a lot like something that could happen in Mexico hehe.

I think I had heard of Zelie Beans before but haven't had their coffee. I roast my own so I rarely buy coffee but will check them out.
That crepe combo sounds bomb!
You roast your own? Like, on a large scale? Or in your oven? I’m intrigued!!
I have a small coffee roaster. I can roast 8 oz of green coffee at a time so definitely not large scale.
Cool!

Do you have a favorite single origin coffee?

How about you sir?

Hotel room. Hostels seem.. hostile.
Traveling on NET I met so many families that were incredibly hospitable and I think of all of them fondly.
Favorite tapas- olives, jamon, cheese
Sweet crepes for me!
I'm going to assume that the cup of coffee that tempers your soul is the one I make you every morning?
OBVIOUSLY
