My take on your chess style is similar but I would say when you attack you fall like a hammer on any perceived weakness. Great to meet you and your wife, Walther! Glad to see that people who seem nice online also seem nice "in person".

It's was great to meet you as well. We try to be the same everywhere LOL

Wait, Walther, you came face-to-face with the Scoot with No Name? And lived to speak of it? I'm genuinely riveted. What's he like!?

Affirmative. Imagine a white guy with a buzz cut and a Van Dyke beard in progress who writes fiction.

The way I wrote that sentence makes it sound like Scoot's Van Dyke writes fiction. That would be amazing.

It might do a better job than me!

I'm flattered that you call it a van Dyke, it's really just whatever showed up after months of benign neglect 😂

Don't forget the "in progress" part.

We’ll have to do a Blunder Boys hangout--maybe mini-chess tournament???

I’ll have to let Walther leave you his impressions of me but i like to think i was handsome and charming and also wealthy and maybe also good at cooking...

Walther and Wife were amazing though, its worth noting. They exude friendly vibes, made me feel like we’d been friends for years!

You're welcome!

Thanks for the shoutout. When I’m an old man, perhaps I’ll look you up and we can play chess in a public park. Near the pigeons.

That's the dream.

It was so great meeting you & Diana!

I have some kind of mental block with chess. My husband and son play it, but my brain just won't do it!

Ditto! How old is your son? My oldest is almost 8 and he's starting to grasp the rules. I'd be curious to know how your husband taught your son to play.

Our son's 12, but I think was 6 or 7 when he started learning - he was really interested in the different pieces and how they moved, so David started by just teaching him all the pieces. Then, practice games where he just worked on certain pieces/moves.

I coincidentally ordered some Mounds and Almond Joy minis. They don't stand much of a chance.

People weren't passing out those on Tuesday, which I lamented. My kids don't like coconut in their candy and it would've been a net gain for me. At the same time, it's probably a good thing.

My boys' BJJ school trades their Halloween candy for patches for their gis so that also help not swim in candy.

I like that idea!

I also observed the preponderance of Marios (and Luigis, and Bowsers, and Princesses, and some Yoshis) here in California!

It's like they were all trying to 1 up each other.
