1. Here in Massachusetts it depends. We went for several months last autumn without measurable rain in the eastern part of the state though this is not usual.

2. Ginger Beer with fresh lime juice and a dash of bitters.

3. Facing their fears and leaving behind what was familiar for the unknown.

As to generational trauma, it’s real, but pointing fingers and blaming only contributes to it. By acknowledging it and understanding its effects on ourselves, our parents and grandparents, we are able to be more compassionate and forgiving. This helps healing and lessens the chances of passing it on. And remember that our forebears probably have no clue about it and it’s unlikely they have the skills to even name it.

Pax tecum.

Thank you for that, Father. I jokingly say that I want to scar my children just enough so they're funny, but this approach seems better.

1. Oh yes. 😂 I didn't have rain boots growing up, either, but that's because we played in the street, where the water would have gone straight over the top. When we lived in town, some neighborhood wit put up a "no wake zone" sign at our intersection, which has one of the city's more neglected drains...we used to get ruts in our lawn every summer from people deciding to drive up past the (also flooded) sidewalk and cut the corner rather than turn around. I love the diversity of climate in the US.

2. I also drink a lot of seltzer. I keep thinking of getting us a SodaStream or such, for the economics, but it feels like admitting I have a problem somehow...

Best of luck on your abstention intentions! Constantly being one year on/one year off alcohol with having children is probably good for me; this time I've just really missed margaritas. Flavored lemonade mocktails are okay, and make going out feel slightly less penitential, but in the long run they're only okay.

3. This shouldn't be such a hard question! It feels very personal, though. I guess I'm grateful to be here.

I always wonder the story behind any sign that prohibits something because you know there was a time when the sign wasn't there!

I own a Drinkmate, and it was okay for a minute until I had to deal with CO2 canisters. If you run out, you're SOL, then the hassle of returning them, blah blah blah, we're back to buying cans. Another disadvantage is the flavors, you need to buy the little bottles with the essences. At that point, the math isn't mathing, I think.

It is a very personal question, and it is totally okay to skip it.

1. Rain - put it this way, we have lots of ferns, moss and lichens growing everywhere. 2. I am currently fond of a ginger fizzy drink with a smidgeon of chilli. 3..All the wonderful buildings and churches left behind by my ancestors.

If watching several seasons of the survival show Alone has taught me anything, it is that lichen is nature's canteen, and you can drink the water stored in it.

I like a good ginger beer, I've never added chili, that sounds like something Mexicans would do LOL.

I checked the bottle after writing this, and it actually says it contains ginger, agave and jalapeño so it does sound a bit Mexican!
